Blox Fruits Pain Rework — New Moveset, Awakening & Is It Good?
The Blox Fruits Pain rework explained: what changed from Paw, the new tap and held moveset, the Pain Meter and Last Stand, how to awaken Pain, and whether Pain is good now.
The Pain rework is a full overhaul of Pain, the Legendary Natural-type Blox Fruit formerly known as Paw. It rebuilt every ability, so each move now has a quick tap version and a stronger held version, and it added two mechanics that change how the fruit is played: a Pain Meter that fills as you take damage, and a Last Stand that gives you a second life. Players run reworked Pain for player-versus-player (PvP) combat, bounty hunting, and grinding. This guide covers what changed, the new moveset, the Pain Meter and Last Stand, how to awaken Pain, whether Pain is good now, and what Pain is worth in trading.
What Changed in the Pain Rework?
The rework renamed Paw to Pain, rebuilt every ability with tap and held versions, and added the Pain Meter and Last Stand mechanics. The Blox Fruits Wiki lists the fruit as "Pain (formerly known as Paw)", so the rename is confirmed. Pain is a Legendary Natural-type fruit that costs 2,300,000 Beli or 2,200 Robux from the Blox Fruit Dealer.
The core change is how the fruit generates power: Pain converts damage you take, plus Pain Ghosts you absorb, into extra strength. That flips the usual rule — taking hits feeds the kit instead of only hurting you.
- Renamed from Paw to Pain, with reworked visuals and a rebuilt kit.
- Reworked every move so each has a tap version and a held version.
- Added the Pain Meter, which fills from damage taken and absorbed Pain Ghosts.
- Added Last Stand, a second life triggered when your health runs out.
Pain's New Moveset (Tap and Held)
Pain's moves sit on Z, X, C, V, and F, and each one has a tap version and a held version. Tap versions are fast and cheap for combo pressure; held versions cost more and hit harder. The Wiki's own combo notes use both forms — "long held X", "held Z", "tapped V" — which confirms the tap/held split.
- [Z] Heavy Pain — a wide attack that stuns, but only when it hits the torso.
- [Z] Fury Jab — a rapid jab string that must be timed; it slows down and becomes punishable if you hold it too long, so around 3 to 4 seconds is the useful window.
- [X] Pain Barrage — a barrage of high-speed, long-range paw-shaped projectiles dealing medium damage each, and heavy damage when the full barrage connects. It stuns.
- [V] Torturing Pulse — a strong Instinct Break option, because enemies keep taking tick damage after the hit lands.
- [F] Self Repel — launches you toward your cursor and travels farther than any other dash in the game, roughly twice the distance of Ghastly Step and beyond Electric Flash. It costs 20 Energy and has a short cooldown.
[F] Self Repel doubles as the fruit's escape tool: its range and short cooldown make it one of the best ways out of a one-shot combo in PvP. Pain Ghosts also work as teleport anchors — hovering your cursor over a ghost and pressing [F] teleports you to it even while the move is on cooldown.
Two details we could not confirm: the Blox Fruits Wiki does not name Pain's [C] move on the pages we checked (its combo notes only refer to "tapped or held C"), and it does not state which of Heavy Pain and Fury Jab is the tap version versus the held version. Per-move damage numbers and cooldown times are not published there either, so this guide does not quote any. Some fan sites list different move names entirely; we follow the Wiki.
The Pain Meter and Last Stand
The Pain Meter fills as you take damage and absorb Pain Ghosts, and unlocks enhanced abilities once it is full. That makes Pain the rare fruit that gains from being hit, so trading damage is part of playing it well rather than a mistake.
Last Stand triggers when your health runs out and gives you a second life. During Last Stand the fruit grants nearly every buff in the game at once — movement speed, defense, cooldown reduction, and damage. How long it lasts depends on your Pain Meter, and you extend it by absorbing ghosts or taking more damage.
The two mechanics feed each other: damage fills the meter, the meter powers your abilities, and a fuller meter buys a longer Last Stand. Play aggressively, if you want the kit at full strength.
How to Awaken Pain
To awaken Pain, upgrade its moves through the Admin Panel unlocked from the Mysterious Scientist NPC in the Second Sea. The awakening runs as a set of research tasks, and each upgraded move costs Fragments plus materials.
Accuracy note: we could not confirm the awakening details on the Blox Fruits Wiki — the Admin Panel route, the Mysterious Scientist location, the Mastery requirement, and the exact costs come from community guides, which disagree with each other. Those guides commonly report a total near 19,000 Fragments plus materials across four upgrade stages, and a Mastery requirement somewhere between 300 and 350. Treat those figures as community-reported, not confirmed, and check in game before you spend. Free stat-reset and 2x EXP codes on our Blox Fruits codes page make the Mastery grind faster.
Is Pain Good After the Rework?
Yes — the rework turned Pain into a strong PvP and bounty-hunting fruit. Its case rests on three things: stuns on [Z] Heavy Pain and [X] Pain Barrage, the longest dash in the game on [F] Self Repel, and a free second life from Last Stand.
Long-range pressure from [X] Pain Barrage, tick damage from [V] Torturing Pulse for breaking Instinct, and an escape that outranges every other dash give it a full PvP toolkit. The Pain Meter rewards staying in the fight rather than backing off.
Combat strength and trade value are not the same thing, though. Pain is a capable fighting fruit, but on our value list it sits 21st of 43 fruits with a 5/10 demand rating and a dropping trend. Pick Pain for how it plays, not as a store of trading value. For a stat spread to run it, see our Blox Fruits stats guide.
How Much Is Pain Worth in Blox Fruits?
Pain is worth around 20.29M Beli as a physical fruit and 47.69M Beli permanent in Blox Fruits trading, with a 5/10 demand rating. That ranks it 21st of 43 tradable fruits by value, and its trend is dropping.
Pain also has its own skins, which trade separately and far higher than the fruit: Frustration Pain, Sadness Pain, and Torment Pain came from the Summer Gacha, Super Spirit Pain from the Party Gacha, and Celestial Pain from the Celestial Gacha. Those gachas ran during past events, so the skins are obtained now mainly by trading — see the fruit skins guide for how each one worked. Check Pain's live figures on its Pain fruit page or the full Blox Fruits value list, and price a full trade in the trade calculator.
The Pain Event is where much of that skin supply came from. It ran hourly at XX:00 for 10 minutes, and every boss respawned as a Tormented version that used the Pain fruit in its second form, with its level set to ??? and 200,000 HP. The Wiki describes the event in the past tense, so treat it as finished unless it returns.
